At the Oklahoma Department of Labor, we are dedicated to safeguarding the rights of workers and maintaining fair employment practices across the state. Through our Employment Standards Division, we enforce child labor laws, employment standards, and wage laws to ensure a safe and just work environment for all.
Our Employment Standards Division (ESD) is divided into two specialized units, each focused on a critical aspect of worker protection:
The Wage & Hour Unit is your ally in the fight for fair compensation. We ensure that all employers comply with federal and state laws regarding wages. When employees believe their wages have been unfairly withheld, our Unit steps in to investigate and vigorously pursue any payments due. From salaries and commissions to overtime and bonuses, we are here to help Oklahoma workers recover the wages and benefits they’ve rightfully earned.
The Child Labor Unit (CLU) is committed to protecting our youngest workers. We work closely with employers to ensure compliance with state and federal child labor laws, providing educational outreach and enforcement to keep young workers safe. Whether it’s regulating work permits, ensuring proper work hours, or preventing minors from engaging in hazardous jobs, our CLU team is here to make sure that Oklahoma’s youth are protected in the workplace.
